SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (May 27, 2022) – Monday afternoon, three victims were airlifted following a car accident on Hames Road.

Police responded to the scene around 5.40pm in Hames Hollow. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly thereafter.

According to reports, the driver of a 2002 Mazda hit a tree and a fire hydrant. However, the events that preceded it still remain unclear.

Water from the hydrant landed on the Mazda, making it harder for emergency responders to extract victims.

Doctors say the accident left three seriously injured, including a child. Crews then airlifted the victims to a nearby hospital for further care.

Based on preliminary inquiries, officers do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role.
