These are the next three New York Yankees prospects we should expect to be promoted to the big league roster.

The New York Yankees are winning a lot this season, but they may still need to call on the Cavalry to help them out at some point. It’s not uncommon for even the best baseball teams to promote some of their top prospects to the major leagues.

Regardless of how the Yankees play this year, we should get a taste of the future. Injuries will happen. Players will be underperforming. The best prospects will give the front office no choice but to promote them.

In 2022, these are the next three prospects the Yankees should promote.

1) Oswald Peraza, Yankees inside prospect

The Yankees have the luxury of having a pair of solid shortstop prospects in their system. Oswald Peraza is one of those promising young men waiting for a promotion.

Considered the Yankees’ second-best prospect behind fellow shortstop Anthony Volpe, Peraza is already in Triple-A, which puts him ahead of Volpe in terms of promotion. The Yankees may not have an imminent shortstop need with Isaiah Kiner-Falefa currently on the club. However, an injury to him or another infielder could convince the Yankees to promote Peraza.

As a member of the 40-man roster, a promotion for Peraza doesn’t necessarily require anyone to be nominated for an assignment. This is always important when trying to determine who will be called next.

Working against Peraza is his slow start to the 2022 season. Would the front office really promote a guy walking the Mendoza line? He’s going to need a hotter bat for New York to decide it’s Peraza time.
