Alexander Skarsgård and Dane DeHaan will play reluctant tiger hunters in The Tiger

Aronofsky is producing “The Tiger” through his Protozoa Pictures label, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment is also behind the project with Wild Bunch International.

Skarsgård’s most recent projects before “The Northman” include “Succession”, “Passing”, “Godzilla vs. Kong”, and “The Stand”. Dehaan comes out of “Lisey’s Story” last year and “The Staircase” this year, and he’s also one of many recognizable actors who have been cast in “Oppenheimer,” Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film.

The official book description of “The Tiger: A True Story of Vengeance of Survival” via Knopf Doubleday Publishing sounds like there might be a monster movie element to the narrative as the tiger slaughters people because of an apparent blood feud:

Outside a remote village in Russia’s Far East, a man-eating tiger lurks. The tiger doesn’t just kill people, it murders them, almost as if it has a vendetta. A team of trackers is sent to hunt down the tiger before it strikes again. They know the creature is cunning, injured, and hungry, which makes it even more dangerous. As John Vaillant recreates these extraordinary events, he offers us an unforgettable and masterful narrative work that combines a fascinating portrait of a stark and mysterious region of the world and its inhabitants, with the natural history of nature’s deadliest predator. .

It’s not yet known when principal photography for “The Tiger” will begin or when it will be released, but we’ll keep you posted as more news develops.
