Alleged rape at ‘Doof Doof’ rave in Broome

A woman in her 30s was allegedly punched repeatedly in the head by a stranger before being sexually assaulted at a rave party on a popular beach in Western Australia.

The alleged sexual assault happened in the early hours of Sunday morning during a “Doof Doof” dance party in the sand dunes north of the rocks at Cable Beach.

Broome detectives are looking for the person who allegedly punched the woman in the head multiple times until she fell to the ground.

The man, who police say was unknown to the woman, is accused of sexually assaulting her while she was lying on the ground before fleeing the scene on foot.

According to the police, there were around 200 people at the party where the crime took place.

He is described as having dark skin, a slim build and being approximately 177cm tall.

The woman was taken to Broome Hospital for treatment of serious head injuries.
