Christian lobby launch campaign targeting ‘rebel’ Liberal MPs

The Australian Christian Lobby is launching a campaign against five MPs it sees as an “ideological cancer” within the Liberal Party for their opposition to the religious discrimination bill, says its Managing Director Martyn Iles.

“What they did was they refused to vote to protect people of faith from discrimination, which I would have thought is a pretty basic Liberal value,” Mr Iles told Sky News Australia.

“And they also, some of them, tried to hijack the Religious Discrimination Bill by adding amendments to the Sex Discrimination Act which would have deleted laws which Christian schools really rely on.

“We really see that as a bit of an ideological cancer going on within the Liberal Party – it’s not shrinking it’s growing.
