Cops injured in Birmingham as driver rams into police vehicles and drives off officers

A ‘dangerous driver’ is wanted by police after ramming into police vehicles in Birmingham and driving off officers to avoid arrest.

The chilling incident happened when a black Ford Focus was spotted driving dangerously on Rosary Road, Erdington, near Brookvale Park, shortly before 10pm on Tuesday January 11.

As officers attempted to arrest him, two of their vehicles were rammed and two officers were injured.

The driver also allegedly nearly ran over a number of other officers before dumping the car at Erdington and fleeing the scene.

Birmingham’s East End Task Force, which tackles guns and serious organized crime, tweeted: ‘A black Ford Focus decided it didn’t want to be pulled over by us shortly after. The vehicle rammed two police vehicles and nearly ran over several officers before fleeing.

“Luckily we know who you are, so expect a visit soon.”

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: ‘At approximately 9.50pm on Tuesday January 11, officers spotted a vehicle being driven dangerously down Rosary Road and attempted to stop it.

“The car hit two of our police vehicles causing significant damage before driving off.

“Two police officers were injured, fortunately their injuries were not serious.

“The car has since been collected from Erdington.

“Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to get in touch via live chat quoting crime reference 20/127221/22.”
