DEL VALLE, Texas (KXAN) — A group of Del Valle ISD students have taken their first steps into Tesla’s new manufacturing development program.
The students signed letters of intent on Saturday to join the program with the Austin automaker. The program will train students for future jobs with Tesla at Austin Community College.
Austin Mayor Steve Adler said on Twitter that 65 students have registered for the program and that there are still a few places.
DVISD gave Tesla more than $60 million in tax relief for its new Travis County gigafactory, which opened in April with a “Cyber Rodeo.”
