Denzel Washington responds to Ellen Pompeo’s claim she cursed him on set

In an interview with Variety published earlier this week, the two-time Oscar winner was asked about the alleged fight, which Ellen discussed on her Tell Me with Ellen Pompeo podcast in September.

The Grey’s Anatomy claimed that she once cursed Denzel while directing The Sound of Silence, an episode of the medical drama that aired in 2016.

However, Denzel refused to give more impetus to Ellen’s story.

“No, no,” he told Variety, claiming he didn’t remember that day. The actor-producer-director then added with a slight smile: “But everything is fine,” according to the publication.

Ellen hit the headlines in September when she shared her work on the set of Grey’s Anatomy with Denzel.

The actor – who plays Meredith Gray on the show – claimed that while “working with Denzel was amazing,” he “went crazy” with her one day when she improvised and stepped out of the script in a scene during the show. ‘an exchange with another actor.

“Denzel got ham on my ass,” she told her former co-star Patrick Dempsey on the podcast. “He said to me, ‘I’m the director, don’t tell him what to do.'”

“And I was like, ‘Look, motherfucker, this is my show, this is my set, who do you tell? Like, you barely know where the bathroom is, ”she recalls.

Ellen said she had the “utmost respect” for Denzel, but that there was a period after the alleged incident where she stopped talking to him. “[That’s] actors for you, ”she said. “Passionate and fiery. “

“This is where you get the magic, this is where you get the good stuff,” she told Patrick, adding that it was always an “amazing experience” to have worked with Denzel on the tray.

She later said that she and the Tragedy Of Macbeth star “were doing fine” after the ordeal.

But Ellen sparked a backlash for the story, with some on social media claiming the interaction was a display of white privilege.

“I wonder if she would talk to [Martin] Scorsese or [Steven] Spielberg like that? Tiffany Cross, MSNBC host tweeted in September.
