Elon Musk is breaking his silence on Amber Heard and Johnny Depp with a tweet praising the two stars after their lawyers presented their closing arguments in their defamation lawsuit.
The Tesla and SpaceX CEO responded to podcast host Lex Fridman’s tweet about his thoughts on the defamation case after six weeks of testimony from Depp and Heard’s legal teams.
The podcast host, who is also a researcher at MIT and has 1.4 million Twitter followers, wrote: “1. Fame is a hell of a drug (for some). 2. Psychiatrists and lawyers have very different skill levels. 3. Lying to millions of people is something humans are capable of. 4. Love can be messy. 5. A mega pint of wine.”
“I hope they both move on,” Musk commented on Fridman’s tweet on Friday, hours after the hearing ended. “At best, they’re all amazing.”
Heard began dating Musk shortly after splitting from Depp in 2016, with their relationship lasting several months. The billionaire was originally named as a potential witness in the case, but ultimately did not testify at trial.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million for allegedly defaming him in a Washington Post op-ed, in which she described herself as “a public figure representing domestic violence,” without naming the actor. Heard is suing Depp for $100 million. Both have accused each other of domestic violence, with each denying the abuse themselves.
Musk’s tweet about Heard and Depp raised some eyebrows on social media, with a number of users speculating which side he supported.
“I think it’s her way of supporting Johnny (because he’s probably been abused and manipulated too so he’s supportive) without pissing Amber off too much lol,” one person said. suggested.
“I don’t know how to read this tweet considering that you challenged Depp to a boxing match and he called you ‘Mollusk’ and said other ‘threats’ to you,” said Dallas Review. wroteadding: “It would have been funny to see you at this trial.”
“Dear Mr. Musk, why did you run away and not say this in court or by video deposition? Why didn’t you go and tell the truth about [the] missing marks on his face? You have been “invited” to do so. Now, when your words are no longer needed, do you want to say something about the case? ” another commented.
Musk was brought up recently during the trial when Depp returned to the stand. The actor called the tech mogul a “mollusk” in a series of text messages played around the courtroom. In a text, Depp wrote: “Let’s see if the mollusk has a pair…Come see me face to face….I’ll show him things he’s never seen before….Like, the other side of his dick when I slice it off,” according to Entertainment Tonight.
Some Twitter users, however, believe Musk did the right thing by not getting involved in the lawsuit.
“Elon is right. They’re both good people, but at this point they just hate each other. When you hate each other, that’s a strong indicator of divorce,” one said. commented.
“Never speak badly of an ex”, mixed martial artist Jake Shields replied. “It shows that you have poor judgment and speak poorly of someone you were once close to. If they smeared you, silence is still the best response 99% of the time.”
The jury went into deliberation on Friday afternoon but concluded after just two hours. They will resume deliberations on a verdict on Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend.
