Jason Horne-Francis cautioned by Roos after flying interstate without their knowledge

Jason Horne-Francis has been warned by North Melbourne after flying interstate without the knowledge of the club.

Horne-Francis missed the Roos’ Round 9 loss to Port Adelaide with a hamstring strain.

But that tension came after the midfielder sat out four steals in almost as many days.

It can be revealed that Horne-Francis returned home to Adelaide after he and his teammates returned to Melbourne from a Round 8 assignment against Fremantle in Perth.

The North players were given Monday off before Round 9 but the club was unaware and the disgruntled Horne-Francis had traveled to Adelaide without them knowing.

The teenager was keen to get home for Mother’s Day weekend.

North Melbourne insisted they hadn’t punished Horne-Francis by taking him out for the Power game, saying he was rightfully sore and needed to rest anyway given his heavy load of work.

But the player was reminded of the need to communicate his movements with the club and his professional responsibilities.

Horne-Francis at the start of the season decided to postpone contract negotiations until the end of the year.

2022 has been a difficult year for North Melbourne amid reports of discontent between manager David Noble and his players.

The Roos are 17th on the ladder with just the lone win over the COVID-hit Eagles.
