Labor housing policy has ‘problems’

Labour’s ‘Buy Help’ scheme fails to address the ‘fundamental structural problem’ of Australia’s housing crisis, says Liberal MP Jason Falinski.

“The fundamental problem with housing is that we have a lack of supply,” Mr Falinski told Sky News Australia.

“Australia basically has more land, we have some of the highest average weekly incomes in the world – we should have the most affordable housing market in the world.

“Instead, we have one of the least affordable housing markets in the world.

“I think the Labor Party’s idea of some sort of government-owned private equity program has some problems.

“But the biggest problem is that we are not addressing the fundamental structural problem that is preventing so many young Australians from returning home – and that is supply.”
