Latest updates from all-British rivalry bout

To our live coverage of the long-awaited all-British grudge match between Amir Khan and Kell Brook.

Both fighters came in under the 149lbs limit to avoid a six-figure fine as the feuding pair were pulled apart again on the eve of the fight, Writes Gareth A Davies.

The two 35-year-olds, whose ill-tempered press conference on Thursday had to be halted amid a shower of homophobic and racist slurs, were at loggerheads again at the weigh-in in Manchester on Friday.

It may only be pride on the line between the pair but both fighters, two of British boxing’s biggest stars, were adamant that Saturday’s fight is as meaningful as any title showdown.

“This is the biggest fight of my career, my legacy fight,” said Brook. Khan weighed 10st 7lb 5oz (147.5lb), and Brook tipped 10st 8lb 5oz (148.5lb), and they both looked in phenomenal shape, professing the best camps of their long, long careers.

“Weight was never an issue for me, I had a fantastic camp and I feel amazing,” said Brook. It’s going to be electric in there and I’m going to be firing on all cylinders. There’s going to be plenty of drama, and I’m in there to thrill the fans.”

Khan, meanwhile, reiterated that he intends to show that he is “levels above Brook” and that he will instigate “a boxing lesson”. “It was just business for me, but Kell has made it personal in the build-up,” explained Khan.

“Normally you shake hands after a fight with your rivals, but I don’t see that happening with me and him. Not after what he has said.”

Gareth A Davies’ prediction: Khan may just have too much for Brook in the early rounds, yet if the Sheffield fighter finds his rhythm and timing, Brook could catch up with his Bolton foe later on.

But given what is on the line, it could be a night when both go to the well, most likely for the last time. It’s a very difficult fight to call. There could be knockdowns, knockouts or even a decision.

Very tough fight to call. Khan TKO round four or Brook KO round six (if he comes through early salvos).
