Lil Durk’s dad says he got life sentence after refusing to report Larry Hoover

During a recent interview, the former Chicago street legend revealed that he received a lengthy prison sentence after he refused to report the co-founder of Gangsta Disciple. larry hoover. During the interview, Dontay Banks recounted the day of his arrest and the ultimatum allegedly given to him by the authorities. According to Banks, authorities told him,
“‘You give us Larry Hoover, we’ll give you the 26th [Street] and you will work for us.
It was then that he made the decision that he was not going to become a rat. He explains,
“I went into my pocket, pulled out my lawyer’s card, slipped it on the table and said, ‘Call my lawyer’. And, from then on, here I am, 26 years later , a free man. Without saying, without compromising, without being something that I am not. Rats, feline pigeons, people who say things to get out… We don’t live that kind of life. I’m a Muslim before everything. No doubt about it. But, even in Islam, we don’t believe in the story. We don’t believe in rats. We don’t believe in saddle pigeons.

According to reports, Lil Durk’s father was arrested in 1993, after being caught in a cocaine distribution ring. At the time of his arrest, he reportedly had $8 million in his possession, which was seized by authorities. In July 1994, Dontay Banks was sentenced to life in prison along with three other men. He served 22 years behind bars before he could appeal against the life sentence. He was released in 2019, after nearly 25 years in prison, and reunited with his son, the rapper Lil Durk.
larry hoover helped found Chicago’s infamous Gangster Disciples gang in 1968 and has been in prison since 1973 for the murder of a 19-year-old drug dealer. He was later convicted of continuing to lead the gang from prison in 1997. Vacuum currently serving six life sentences in a supermax prison in Colorado alongside infamous criminals like the Unabomber and Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.
Hoover has since spoken out against gang life and currently works to mentor young people. Over the years, there have been multiple efforts by the hip-hop community to help her appeal. Last December, Duck and Kanye West performed a Free Larry Hoover concert in Chicago to raise money for the effort.
