Man shot, killed after argument in SF: police

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — San Francisco Police Department announcement two reports of gunfire Friday night. The latest incident, which happened around 11:55 p.m. in the Bayview neighborhood, saw a man shot and killed after an argument, according to SFPD.

The shooting occurred in the 1600 block of Shafter Avenue, where officers found a 38-year-old man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

Police said the victim and suspect were involved in an argument that escalated into gunfire, according to a news release. The suspect has been identified as Robert Malachi Barton, a 33-year-old San Francisco resident.

Barton was arrested around 12:30 p.m. Saturday after authorities exercised a search warrant at his Espanola Street home. He was incarcerated in San Francisco County Jail for homicide, according to police.

Espanola Street and 1600 Shafter Avenue are approximately one mile apart.

Police tweeted there was an 80-round gunfight on Potrero Hill around 6:18 p.m. Friday. No one was hit by gunfire.
