Manchester United are set to take on Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni this summer.
That’s according to a report by Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport, via SempreInter. It is claimed that new United manager Erik ten Hag is a ‘huge admirer’ of the Italian and would like to add him to his arsenal at Old Trafford.
United are in the hunt for a new centre-back this summer and have already identified Pau Torres as a target. The Villarreal defender has often been on United’s radar and Ten Hag has reportedly been consulted over the prospect of signing him.

As for Bastoni – who turned 23 last month – it is reported that Inter are set to demand £50m for his signature. He has racked up 44 appearances for the Italian giants this season, scoring one goal.
Bastoni has also established himself on the international stage over the past year, becoming a more regular feature in Italy manager Roberto Mancini’s plans. However, he only made one appearance at last summer’s European Championship, starting in Italy’s 1-0 win over Wales.
Meanwhile, Leicester are keen to sign United midfielder James Garner, following his exceptional loan spell at Nottingham Forest this season. That’s according to a report from the Mirror, which claims the Foxes have put him ‘high’ on their target list.
The Birkenhead-born midfielder capped his season-long loan to Forest with a bang on Sunday, playing a key role in their promotion to the Premier League, beating Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the Championship play-off final at Wembley. He provided the assist for the game’s only goal, seeing his cross converted by Huddersfield’s Levi Colwill for an own goal.
Garner, who has made 49 appearances for Forest this season, has also been linked with Southampton but is hoping to work his way into Erik Ten Hag’s plans at United next season.
