The 52-year-old left alone for the hike from Halls Gap to Barooka Lookout in the Grampians National Park around 2pm on Saturday and never returned.
Johns is unfamiliar with the area, where temperatures are expected to drop to 1 degree, Victoria Police said in a statement.
Airborne police, park rangers and the SES scoured the bush for any signs of the missing hiker.
Just after midnight on Monday, police announced the hiker had been found safe and sound.
“Victoria Police would like to thank everyone for their assistance,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
