With the final two pieces in place, the Point Loma Nazarene baseball program learned the pitch for the NCAA Division II baseball championship, starting Saturday in Cary, North Carolina.

The second-seeded team will face No. 7-seeded Illinois Springfield (48-9) on the tournament’s opening day at 3 p.m.

PLNU (48-8) advanced to the Championship with their 5-2 West Super Regional victory over Azusa Pacific University at home on Saturday.

West Chester and Southern New Hampshire clinched the final spots for the DII College World Series on Sunday. West Chester beat East Stroudsburg in back-to-back games to clinch the Atlantic super regional berth, while Southern New Hampshire dispatched Molloy to clinch the Eastern super regional.

North Greenville clinched the top seed.

The other initial clashes for the DII championship:

The eight teams will compete in a double elimination tournament until a champion is crowned. Southern NH and Angelo State return after competing in the 2021 tournament — sixth-seeded Wingate (NC) won the DII title last year.

Cary is home to the United States National Baseball Training Complex.
