Richard Jooha Lim killed in two-vehicle crash on Highway 99 [Galt, CA]

42-year-old man dies in traffic accident near Simmerhorn Road

GALT, Calif. (May 24, 2022) Richard Jooha Lim died in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 99 Thursday morning, police said.

The incident happened around 11:50 a.m. on May 19 along the northbound lanes of Highway 99 just south of Simmerhorn Road.

According to reports, Lim was driving in his van when, for unknown reasons, he rolled onto the shoulder of the road and crashed into the back of the tractor-trailer parked on the right side of the highway.

Due to the extent of his injuries, responding officers pronounced Lim, 42, dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the other driver, a 50-year-old man from Arlington, was not injured in the crash.

Additionally, police closed the surrounding lanes of the road to allow for cleaning and preliminary work, but have since reopened them.

Currently, an active investigation to determine further details is underway.
