‘She was our anchor’: Byfield family farm reopens after youngest daughter dies in crash – Boston News, Weather, Sports

NEWBURY, MASS. (WHDH) – The family of a woman killed in a car accident last week hopes her work will continue as she reopens her Byfield farm.

Susan Sforza Nico was killed when a driver slammed into the greenhouses on the farm last week. His family has operated the farm stand for years and reopened it on Saturday as customers came to offer their help.

“We left notes on our cars, we got all kinds of offers of help. People brought us food, flowers and sent us their love,” said Tammy Sforza, Susan’s sister. “We can’t do it without them.”

Susan was the youngest of seven children and helped grow the flowers sold on Saturday. Tammy said the family would close the stand for the season once they were all sold out, and asked customers to post photos of their flowers and plants on the stand’s Facebook page so they could see the results of the hard work from Susan.

“If we can finish our season in the next couple of days, that would be amazing because then we can move on with our feelings and our emotions and everything,” Tammy Sforza said. “She was the anchor, and now we’re just adrift.”
