All three were taken to hospital and are in serious condition. A suspect is in custody.
Three people are hospitalized in serious condition after being stabbed multiple times during what police said was a volatile situation Friday inside a North Saanich home.
Sidney-North Saanich RCMP were alerted to a 911 call indicating that multiple people were injured by a person who was still inside the residence in the 10000 block of Derrick Road in North Saanich.
Police forced their way into the home and found three people who had been stabbed multiple times, RCMP said Saturday.
The man they believe to be responsible was at the scene and was arrested without incident, police said. “Responding officers relied on their training and de-escalation skills to bring this very agitated and violent individual into custody.
“I am grateful that all first responders acted in a professional manner to end this very volatile situation safely,” said Cpl. Sidney-North Saanich RCMP spokesperson Andres Sanchez.
RCMP provided emergency first aid to the victims until the scene was deemed safe enough for BC Ambulance paramedics to enter.
The injuries of the three victims were serious enough that they were taken to hospital. They are expected to survive their injuries.
All three were in serious but stable condition as of Saturday afternoon, police said.
There is no danger to the public and at this stage of the investigation the man arrested is believed to be known to the victims and this is an isolated incident, police said.
The man arrested at the scene is still in custody.
Derrick Road is in the Deep Cove area of North Saanich. Block 10000 consists of larger single-family half-acre properties to the west and a five-acre property with a house on the east side of the road. The area is largely forested and properties are valued at over $1 million.
