Yarraville community members ready to chat

By Matthew Sims

Yarraville community members are encouraged to chat and watch a movie with other community members as part of an upcoming Yarraville Community Center [YCC] an event.

YCC project coordinator Bettina Twyman said the group usually meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m.

“YCC’s Chatty Cafe started online during shutdowns and is now growing to enjoy face-to-face meetings over a cup of tea,” she said.

“Our goal is to provide social gatherings that allow people to engage in new friendships and deeper connections with our community.”

The YCC Chatty Cafe Movie Day will take place at the Sun Theater in Yarraville on Wednesday, June 1 from 10am and will include morning tea and a screening of “The Duke”.

Ms Twyman said new faces will be welcome at the free event.

“We are a safe and inclusive space with people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and interests,” she said.

“The Sun Theater hosted great food, drink and trivia questions for us and were extremely welcoming in supporting our Chatty Cafe at the YCC.”

The YCC will also be hosting a Plant with Plants Day on Wednesday, June 8 from 2-3 p.m.
